A Piece of Finland is a Finnish Design Shop & Coffee Corner in Amsterdam, providing a unique service and a living room for finnofans and anyone else looking to connect to Finnish goods, travel and culture and design. We just received this picture today of Finnish Design brand Tonfisk products at are new retailer Zixag in Hong Kong. Zixag is a design driven brand based in Hong Kong. They design contemporary objects, and sell 40+ brands from around the world. They promote and sell a constantly updated range of creations from local artists, overseas craftsmen, Scandinavian and Finnish Design and practical things in-between. In 2010 Zixag opened a boutique store in Shanghai. Since then Zixag has expanded back home with 3 concept stores in Hong Kong. See more at: http://zixag.com
The Finnish Design brand Tonfisk Design has relaunched its classic WARM Tea & Coffee range in Oak finish. WARM has been a classic of Scandinavian design since its launch in 1998 at the Artek showroom in Helsinki, Finland. As well as being featured in numerous exhibition and books about Scandinavian and Nordic design, the WARM tea set has also been featured in WALLPAPER* magazines Design's of the Decade feature in 2010. Now as Tonfisk continues to upgrade its production the Oak veneer option has been relaunched so once again fans of Finnish Design can enjoy this range in a light wood option.

Jväskylä is known in the design world for its connection to the Finnish architecture great Alvar Aalto. The Alvar Aalto Museum is located in Jyväskylä (http://www.alvaraalto.fi/) and Alvar Aalto is responsible for roughly 10 projects in the city including Jyväskylä University. Every three years is also held the Alvar Aalto Symposium on Architecture- Next Symposium is in 2015. However if you want to come already in 2014 Jyväskylä is hosting Finlands unique Asuntomessut/ Housing Fair (http://www.asuntomessut.fi/) from 11.7.14-10.8.14. Tonfisk's Scandinavian design NEWTON milk and sugar set has been recently featured on a wish list in the Irish Examiner newpaper. Knowledge of the Tonfisk's Nordic brand of design is slowly spreading in Ireland. This is not surprising considering its co-founder is Irish.

At the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt this month Tonfisk Design had the pleasure to meet Mr. Doyle of Irish design brand Newbridge Silverware and introduce him to the Tonfisk’s unique Irish - Nordic design line. As a result Tonfisk’s functional but contemporary scandinavian design lines such as the WARM tea & coffee series including tea cups and teapots, SHADOW water carafe, NOKKA oil & Vineagr sets , NEWTON milk & sugar creamers and REUNA serving trays will now be stocked soon at the Newbridge Silverware Shop.
In 1934 the Newbridge Cutlery Company was established and quickly became renowned for its quality craftsmanship and design ethos. In the early 1990's William Doyle succeeded his father as head of the company and Newbridge Cutlery re invented itself and became Newbridge Silverware. With an emphasis on the informal a whole new generation recognised Newbridge Silverware as a major name in design for jewellery, accessories, gifts, kitchenware, leather wares and interiors. Now a some Nordic design has been added to the list.
