Tonfisk Design lanseeraa erikois ’Limited Edition’ WARM tee & kahvi–settiä zebrano puulla Turku Design Now! –joulumyyjäisissä pe 9.12 – su 11.12. (kuva alhaalla)
Vuonna 1998 Taideteollisen Korkeakoulun opiskelija Brian Keaney lanseerasi ensimmäisen WARM –sarjan tee & kahvi -sarjan päättötyönään. Sen jälkeen sarja on muotoutunut `miniklassikoksi` Suomalaiselle designille ja jonka löytää useiden museoiden kokoelmista mukaan lukien Pariisin Les Art Decoratifs:tä. Näiden 13 vuoden tuotannon aikana sarjaa on ollut saatavilla vain kolmella eri puulajilla. Nyt Turun kulttuuripääkaupunkivuoden lopun kunniaksi Tonfisk lanseeraa eriköis ’Limited Edition’ WARM settiä zebrano puulla. Zebrano puisia settejä valmistetaan vain 150 kappalletta ja tuotteiden myynti alkaa Turku Design Now! joulumyyjäisissä. Tuote on oiva designin keräilijän joululahja! Settiin kuuluu kaksi 24 cl:n mukia, 1.1 litran teekannu sekä tarjotin. Setin ostajille tarjotaan myös mahdollisuus tilata lisämukeja.
WARM –sarjan design syntyi kun Brian Keaney sai ajatuksen suunnitella korvattomia tee mukeja joita hänen isänsä voisi käyttää polttamatta sormiaan. Samaan aikaan hänen ystävänsä Taideteollisesta Korkeakoulusta oli tekemässä projektia laminoidun puuvanerin parissa ja idea käyttää laminoitua puuvaneria mukien suojana sai alkunsa. Omaperäisiä ideoita olivat myös korkin käyttö teekannun kantena ja teekannun pyöreä pohja, joka vaati teeekannujen polton erillisten purkkien sisällä. Lanseeramisen jälkeen valikoima on karttunut erikokoisilla mukeilla, lautasille ja kulhoilla. Kun Tonfisk Design perustettiin vuonna 1999 kyseisestä sarjasta tuli myyntihitti ja nykyään niitä jälleenmyydään maailmanlaajuisesti noin 20 eri maassa.
Turku Design Now joulumyyjäiset
Turun vuosi kulttuuripääkaupunkina on loppumaisillaan. Turun design yhteisöllä on kuitenkin vielä yksi tapahtuma tarjottavanaan. Joulukuun toisena viikonloppuna kaikilla designin ystävillä on loistava mahdollisuus löytää hienoja joulutarjouksia, uutuksia ja yllätyksiä saman katon alta, kun Turku Design Now! –ryhmä kokoontuu taas järjestäen jokavuotuiset design myyjäiset. Tarjolla astioita, kynttilänjalkoja, tekstiilejä, magneettitauluja, koruja, vaatteita ja paljon muita turkulaisia design –tuotteita. Itselle tai lahjaksi. Myyjäisissä myös mahtava arvonta sekä tarjolla tietenkin maukasta ja lämmintä glögiä! Ja muista että joulumyyjäiset ovat ainoa paikka josta voi tänä jouluna hankkia itselleen erikois ’Limited Edition’ WARM –setin zebrano puulla. Vain 150 settiä valmistettan kyseisellä puulla päättyvän kultturipääkaupunkivuoden kunniaksi.

Once again the Turku Design Now! group is arranging its Christmas Sales at Tonfiks Design's factory from Fri 9.12 to Sun 11.12. This year there are several new companies including Sanna Rinne (www.sannarinne.com) and Saana & Olli (www.saanajaolli.com)
Also at the sales Tonfisk will launch its a limited addition WARM set in Zebranno. Only 150 pcs of the sets will be produced. Their sales starts on 9.12. and they will also be available through our webshop. The set will not be generally available. So come and find a very special gift!

Magisso Oy Tonfisk Designin suurimmaksi omistajaksi
”Magisso Oy siirtyy 13.9.2011 allekirjoitetun yrityskauppa sopimuksen toteutuessa Tonfisk Design Oy:n suurimmaksi yksittäiseksi omistajaksi.”, kertoo Magisso Oy:n hallituksen puheenjohtaja Miika Mansikkamaa, joka siirtyy myös Tonfisk Design Oy:n uudeksi toimitusjohtajaksi.
Vuonna 1999 perustettu Tonfisk Design tunnetaan laadukkaana ja kansainvälisenä keramiikkaa valmistavana design-brändinä. Tonfiskin tunnetuimpia tuotteita ovat mm. Warm-tee- ja kahviastiasto sekä innovatiivinen sokerikermakko Newton.
Tonfiskin luovana johtajana jatkava perustajaosakas Brian Keaney on palkittu ansioistaan alalla mm. Ilmari Tapiovaara ja Ornamo Design Award -muotoilupalkinnoilla.
”Mottomme Form follows function doesn`t mean all objects have to look the same pohjautuu Louis Sullivanin funktionalistiseen manifestiin. Lause on erittäin kliseinen, mutta kuvaa hyvin suunnittelumme filosofista perustaa. Tonfisk ei tee uusia muotoja vaan uusia ideoita”, kertoo Brian Keaney.
Magisso Oy:n ja Tonfisk Design Oy:n yritysjärjestelyn myötä Tonfisk Design saa merkittäviä lisäresursseja kansainvälistymiseen, tuotantoon sekä markkinointiponnisteluihin. Magisso ja Tonfisk Design jatkavat erillisinä oman identiteetin omaavina brändeinä.
”Yhteistyömme on yksi suomalaisen muotoilualan mielenkiintoisimpia uutisia. Vuoden 2012 aikana tullaankin Tonfisk Designilta näkemään erittäin upeita uudistuksia ja tuotteita”, kommentoi toimitusjohtaja Miika Mansikkamaa.

Brian Keaney will speak at the Craft Conscious Conference in Dublin 9.6.11
The Craft Council of Ireland and World Crafts Council Europe are holding a one day conference 'Craft Conscious: Re-Shaping global futures in the innovation age' in Dublin on 9th June 2011. The conference is part of the 'Year of Craft 2011' in Ireland. The conference moderator is Fintan O'Toole and key speakers include Brian Keaney (Tonfisk Design), Edmud de Waal (veramic artist and Author), Edna dos Santos-Duisenberg (Chief, Creative Economies and Industries Programme, United Nations), Finbarr Bradley (Lecturer and Author) and Leonardo Bonanni (CEO, Sourcemap.org). New KULMA Candlelabra being launched at AMBIENTE
Tonfisk Design is launching its new KULMA Candlebra at the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt 11.2 - 15.2 stand 11.0 E49. KULMA is the result of a cooperation between Tonfisk Design and student Tiina Numme. Tiina took on the challenge of designing a new candleholder for Tonfisk as her final work for her studies in Turku (This years European city of Culture). KULMA is both aesthetical and functionally interesting as it can be used on its own or combined in groups of two's or three's. Very soon to be available to purchase on Tonfisk's webshop.

15 New Products being introduced to WARM series
In 1998 the original WARM series was exhibited for the first time as the graduation work of Brian Keaney. Shortly afterwards the first orders were completed and after Tonfisk Design was launched in 2000 the WARM series has been its trade mark product. Presently the WARM series is retailing in over 20 countries worldwide and is included in the collections of several museums including Les Arts Decoratif in Paris. Since 1998 several new pieces have been gradually added to the range however the range has continued to lack bowls and plates.
Now in autumn 2010 fifteen new pieces designed by Brian Keaney will be added to the range. The new pieces include 4 sizes of bowls including the large Salad Bowl and Soup Bowl (see picture below), 3 sizes of serving plates, 4 sizes of dining plates a candle holder and a new cappuccino cup. The functional and aesthetic characteristics of the original range are continued with the combining of ceramic and wood with simple forms. Functional characteristics include the possibility to use the serving plates as lids on the bowls.
The new pieces will be launched in Helsinki at Design Market (30.-31.8) and Habitare 2010 September 1-5 (stand 2c61) and will also be available in autumn from all Stockmann department stores and Tonfisk Design’s own webshop.

Tonfisk Design at Ambiente Fair, Frankfurt 12-16 February
